About Me

Hey you, I’m Eliza and “Welcome” to my study skills blog!

I’m so excited that you have found my blog and you’re probably wondering who is behind HE Study Skills.  I’m a Lecturer at University Centre Colchester (England); a small (but certainly well formed) HE institution within Colchester Institute (a large FE college) and have been since 2010.

I’ve been an undergrad at 18 and also a mature student with kids so I’ve seen the student life from both sides (which were very different experiences). I haven’t followed a traditional academic route and come from a strong corporate background. I now teach Management and Leadership studies as well as a number of Study Skills modules. My enthusiasm for helping students #thinksmart #writesmart and #organizesmart is brimming over. I want to help students learn to study effectively and efficiently and help you develop your confidence as an undergrad. I don’t know about you guys but I don’t have loads of time; I juggle a serious amount of plates – which can be exhausting – so when I do have time to study, I want to make the most of every minute. Improving your study skills will make such as difference to this.

So, I wanted my blog to provide you with the opportunity to develop your study skills by recording my teaching journey. I want to create an environment where you guys can collaborate and share thoughts, ideas and best practice to make being a student just that little bit easier. I’m also about to be a student again (I honestly don’t know why I put myself through it) as well as continuing to teach, so I’m sure to share some of my experiences of that too. I really do hope you enjoy reading my blog (check out HEStudySkills on socials too) and if you want to read a bit more about me check out this post.

Happy studying,

Eliza Bebb
